Combilift = Easy Handling of Long Loads October 30th 2006 In just eight years since Combilift launched its first Combilift 4-way forklift onto the market in 1998, the company has now become the world leader in the long load handling market. The advantages of the “3 machines in 1” concept have attracted customers across a wide variety of industry sectors, who are benefiting from greatly increased use of storage space, safer product handling and improved operational efficiency. Space saver The ability to travel sideways with exceptionally long loads enables aisle widths to be cut down to just 2m, maximising the use of all available storage space, including often previously redundant low level storage areas due to the low platform height of the forklift. Working inside and out, directly from delivery truck to cantilever racking, the Combilift range cuts out time-consuming double handling of goods. Combilift guided rail systems are now a recognised solution for speeding up picking whilst protecting the product and racks from damage. New Product Range Combilift’s models now span a range of lift capacities from 2.5 to 12 tonnes, with diesel, LPG or electric power available. In keeping with the company slogan – customised handling solutions substantial investment in R&D (around 9% of turnover) has resulted in the introduction of new models year on year. Three new models were recently unveiled at the opening of the company’s new manufacturing facility and global headquarters in Monaghan, Ireland: The TeleCombi, fitted with a 1 stage boom mounted on a moving carriage, is able to reach across the full width of a trailer at all lift heights. This allows the driver to offload from one side only, representing considerable savings on time and space. The new GT stand-on forklift can work in even narrower aisles than a conventional Combilift as it features a stand-on rather than a ride-in cab. A key option is an optical guiding system, which eliminates the need to install mechanical guide rails. Optical cameras mounted on the truck monitor a tape bonded in the centre of the aisle floor which enables automatic steering for easy driver operation. The Semi – Rough Terrain C 5000L forklift is specifically designed to handle long loads of timber. With larger solid pneumatic tyres, it is especially suited to unpaved yards and semirough terrain including snowy conditions. As with all models from the Combilift range, the C5000L is suited to outdoor and indoor environments. Enhanced Health and Safety The Combilift’s ability to travel in all directions allows low-level transportation along aisles as narrow as 2m and in and out of restricted entrances. This eliminates hazardous highlevel manoeuvres above racking, machinery and other obstacles, and reduces risk to personnel and stock. For optimum load stability, the retractable mast allows the load to rest on the platform of the truck, rather than just on the two centre forks, lowering the overall centre of gravity and cradling the load whilst travelling. Customise Your Combilift The wide variety of lift capacities, mast options, platform dimensions and range of attachments mean that, in effect, practically every Combilift is tailor made to user specifications. A free warehouse layout and racking configuration service is available to ensure optimum use of space in premises. As MD Martin McVicar points out: “At Combilift, we don’t just manufacture forklift trucks, we offer complete warehouse and handling solutions.” More articles from Combilift Limited: |
